By only March of 2022 there were over 240 anti-trans bills filed, making it the worst year on record. Last year also broke records for being the worst year for anti-transgender legislation with over 144 bills. There have been more bills proposed attacking trans rights in the last 2 years than in the last 10 years combined. Most of the bills are attacking minors--more specifically trans girls in sports.
The Gay/Trans/LGBTQPIA+ Panic Defense
The lgbtqpia+ panic defense is a legal strategy that asks a jury to find that a victim’s sexual orientation or gender identity/expression is to blame for a defendant’s violent reaction, including murder, excusing the violence as an act of temporary insanity due to unwanted advances from an lgbtqpia+ person. Only 15 states and DC have outlawed the lgbtqpia+ panic defense. Usually referred to as the gay and trans panic defense.
Ways to Help:
Contact your local legislators, governors, representatives, etc, and urge them to ban the gay/trans panic defense. (Text “RESIST” to 50409 to contact your local policymakers.)
Support organizations that work to protect and uplift the LGBTQ+ community, like the LGBT Bar, or the American Bar Association's Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity.
Litigate cases that promote the protection and empowerment of the LGBTQ+ community.
Trans Military
On July 26, 1948 President Truman desegregated the military. In 2015, President Obama made it okay for gay, lesbian, and bi people to serve and last year he made it okay for transgender people to serve. Today July 26, 2017 Trump said he will not allow transgender people to serve their country. This law is discriminatory and wrong. Trans military members lay down their lives to protect our rights. Trans people already have few rights in our federal laws. This discrimination cannot become law. These tweets are just threats meant to distract us from the cases being brought against the Trump family and administration. Call your representatives. Stop the healthcare repeal. We will resist! And love will prevail. You are valid, you are beautiful, and you matter. I’m here for you.
Healthcare
I’ve experienced discrimination in the healthcare industry. I made this just after trump finalized a rule defining gender as biological sex assigned at birth. The Supreme Court has since ruled to define discrimination based on sex as including the LGBTQPIA+ community. Essentially makes it is illegal to discriminate against LGBTQ people particularly in the workplace, but this could have legal standing in other cases as well.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) saved millions of lives. Repealing Obamacare will take away the anti-discrimination clause for transgender people and countless others for "preexisting conditions." Protect Section 1557 and keep the anti-discrimination clause!

Trump wants to keep the words "transgender, fetus, scienced-based, evience-based, vulnerable, diversity and entitlement" out of government policies and legislation. He tried to ban the words from being used in the Center for Disease Control and Preventionl (The CDC)'s budget meeting. Luckily, they refused. We will always resist hate. We exist and we're not going anywhere.
